Michael John Morris (born January 20, 1943 – died March 15, 2020) was an English footballer. He played as a forward, which means he was one of the main players who tried to score goals.

Mick played for several football clubs during his career. He spent time with Barking, Grays Athletic, West Ham United (though he didn't play in a first-team match), and Faversham Town. He then joined Oxford United in 1964. He later moved to Port Vale in 1967 and helped both teams get promoted to higher divisions. After that, he played for Stafford Rangers and finished his career at Leek Town.

Mick Morris's Football Journey

Mick Morris started his football journey playing for clubs like Barking and Grays Athletic. He also had a short time at West Ham United, but he didn't get to play in any main team games there. Before joining a bigger club, he played for Faversham Town.

Playing for Oxford United

In June 1964, Mick joined Oxford United. He was a key player for the team, helping them win promotion from the Fourth Division in the 1964–65 season. This meant the team moved up to a higher league! Oxford United then managed to stay in the Third Division for the next two seasons. During his time at Oxford United, Mick scored 15 goals in 90 league games.

Time at Port Vale

Mick signed with Port Vale in July 1967. He even cut short his honeymoon in Spain to join the club, showing how dedicated he was to football!

He played well in his first two seasons, scoring six goals in 31 games in 1967–68 and five goals in 38 games in 1968–69. He became a very versatile player, meaning he could play in different positions on the field. He played in almost every game during the 1969–70 season, which was another promotion-winning year for him and the "Valiants."

Fans at Port Vale loved Mick. They often sang a chant that went, "We’ve got Micky, Micky Morris on the wing!" This shows how popular he was with the supporters. Mick left Port Vale in May 1972.

Later Career

After leaving Port Vale, Mick spent five years playing for Stafford Rangers. He even got to play at the famous Wembley Stadium in 1976 in the FA Trophy final, though his team didn't win that day. He later played for Leek Town before ending his football career.

Mick's Life After Football
