The Mid-Atlantic Air Museum (MAAM) is a special place for airplanes. It is an aviation museum and a workshop that fixes old aircraft. You can find it at Reading Regional Airport in Reading, Pennsylvania.
The museum was started by Russ Strine, who is now its President. MAAM collects and carefully restores historic war planes, classic airliners, and other rare aircraft. Many of these amazing planes often fly in airshows for people to see.

What is the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum?
The Mid-Atlantic Air Museum is a non-profit organization. It is dedicated to preserving aviation history. This means they save and restore old airplanes. They also teach people about the history of flight.
World War II Weekend Air Show
Since 1990, the museum has hosted a big event. It's called the "World War II Weekend Air Show." This show usually happens around June 6th. This date is important because it's when the D-Day landings happened in World War II.
Many people come to this air show. Sometimes, nearly 100,000 visitors attend! It's a chance to see many historic planes fly.
Experience a Flight in a Vintage Plane
Do you want to fly in an old airplane? The museum offers rides in some of its vintage aircraft. You can take a ride in a North American SNJ. This plane was a trainer used in World War II. They also offer rides in a Stearman Biplane.
These special flights happen on the second Saturday of each month. This is from May through October. However, they do not offer rides in June, because of the big air show.
Restoring a Rare Black Widow Plane
The museum is working on a very exciting project. They are restoring a Northrop P-61 Black Widow airplane. This plane is very rare. It was found in New Guinea in 1989.
The goal is to make this P-61B Black Widow fly again. This is a huge and difficult job. It takes a lot of time and skill.
Aircraft for Flight Simulators
The Mid-Atlantic Air Museum also creates special aircraft for computer games. These are for programs like MS Flight Simulator. You can fly virtual versions of their restored planes. Some examples include the B-25, C-47, and TBM Avenger.
New Hangar for Airplanes
In 2018, the museum started building a new hangar. A hangar is a large building where airplanes are stored and repaired. This new space helps them keep more aircraft safe. It also gives them more room for restoration work.
