What is the History of Middle Amana?

In 1881, Middle Amana was a busy place with many different businesses. It had a factory that made woolen goods and another that made starch. There was also a machine shop, a wagon shop, and a blacksmith shop. The community had a place for printing and binding books, a brick yard, and a general store where people could buy things. Middle Amana also had its own school and a meeting house for the community.

Public schools in Middle Amana are part of the Clear Creek–Amana Community School District. Amana Elementary School is located right in Middle Amana. Older students attend Clear Creek–Amana Middle School and Clear Creek–Amana High School, both of which are in Tiffin.

There used to be a high school in Middle Amana called Amana High School. It was built after people voted for it in 1935. However, this school closed in 1991. The Clear Creek–Amana Middle School was also once located in Middle Amana before moving to Tiffin.
