Middle Lake is a cool lake located in Independence Township, Oakland County, Michigan. It sits about 968 feet (295 m) above sea level. This lake is part of the main branch of the Clinton River. It's also pretty deep, reaching 35 feet (11 m) at its deepest point!
Middle Lake is connected to other lakes. To the south, it flows into Dollar Lake. To the north, it connects upstream to Deer Lake.
History of Middle Lake
Middle Lake has an interesting past. For a long time, until the 1960s, it was actually called Cemetery Lake. This name came from the Lakeview Cemetery, which is located right on the western side of the lake.

Lakeview Cemetery is a very old burial ground in northern Oakland County. Many of the first people who settled and helped build Independence Township are buried there. It's a place that holds a lot of local history.
