A Look Back: Middle Point's History
Middle Point was first created in 1851. Its original name was Sykestown. This name came from the Sykes family, who owned the land in the mid-1800s.
The village was later renamed Middle Point. This new name was chosen because of its location. It was almost exactly in the middle of two other towns: Delphos and Van Wert. A post office opened in Middle Point in 1854. The village officially became an incorporated village in 1874.
