The Middle River Reservoir is a special lake found on the northern side of Kangaroo Island in South Australia. It was built on the Middle River. The area that collects water for the reservoir, called the catchment, is about 101 square kilometers.

Why Was the Reservoir Built?

After the Second World War, the number of people living on Kangaroo Island quickly doubled! More people meant more water was needed. So, building the Middle River Reservoir was a way to make sure everyone had enough fresh water.

Who Gets Water from the Reservoir?

The reservoir helps supply water to several towns on Kangaroo Island. These include Kingscote, Brownlow KI, and Parndana. It's a very important source of water for these communities.
