Middlesex College, once known as Middlesex County College, is a public community college. Its main campus is located in Edison, New Jersey. The college was started in 1964 by the Middlesex County Board of Elected Freeholders. It helps students from Middlesex County and nearby towns. The college also has two smaller campuses. One is in the Civic Square area of New Brunswick. The other is in the city center of Perth Amboy. The current president of Middlesex College is Mark McCormick.

The college campus was built on part of an old military base. This base was called the Raritan Arsenal and was built in 1917 for the United States Army. The arsenal closed in 1963. In 1964, the county officially started the college. Frank Chambers was the first president, and he helped design the new school. The college first opened its doors for classes in September 1966. About 1,500 students signed up that first year.
