History of Midnight
How Midnight Got Its Name
People say Midnight got its name in a very interesting way. The story goes that the land for the community was won in a poker game that ended right at midnight!
Post Office and Changes
A post office opened in Midnight in 1897. This building was strong enough to survive the huge Great Mississippi Flood of 1927. However, the Midnight post office closed on October 5, 2002. By 2010, the building was taken down as part of changes to postal services.
Community Improvements
In the 2000s, a resident named Gwen McKenzie worked with other people in Midnight to get a highway sign. This sign would help show directions to their community. In 2009, the streets in Midnight were given names and numbers, making it easier to find places.
