Midway got its name because it was a perfect "mid-way" stop! Imagine trains traveling between two big places: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Steubenville, Ohio. Midway was right in the middle, making it an important stop on the railroad. This is how the community grew and became known as Midway. It was officially established in 1866.
