Mike Goldberg (born November 24, 1964) is an American play-by-play commentator. He is well-known for his exciting commentary in sports like mixed martial arts (MMA) and hockey. Mike Goldberg worked for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) for many years, from 1997 to 2016. He also worked for Bellator MMA from 2017 to 2021. Today, he continues to commentate for BYB Extreme Fighting Series and ProBox TV.

Mike Goldberg's Career in Broadcasting

Mike Goldberg was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. He later graduated from Miami University. He has had a long and interesting career in sports broadcasting.

Early Sports Commentary

Before joining the UFC, Goldberg worked on many different sports. He was a studio host for college football games. He also appeared on sports talk shows.

He was a play-by-play announcer for professional hockey teams. These included the Detroit Red Wings and the Minnesota Wild. He also called games for ESPN2 hockey. He broadcast over 900 National Hockey League (NHL) games.

Working with the UFC

Mike Goldberg started his journey with the UFC on December 21, 1997. His first event was UFC Japan: Ultimate Japan. This event took place in Japan and was shown on pay-per-view in the United States. He became a very familiar voice for UFC fans. He was known for his exciting calls during fights.

From 2000 to 2002, Goldberg also worked as a sideline reporter for the NFL on FOX. In 2005, he had an offer to work for World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). However, he decided to stay with the UFC instead.

Other Sports and Shows

During his time with SportsChannel Chicago, he was a sideline reporter for the Chicago Bulls. This included their championship wins in 1991, 1992, and 1993. He also called college football and basketball games for various conferences.

Goldberg also hosted Shaq Vs., a sports reality TV show featuring basketball star Shaquille O'Neal.

In 2014, Goldberg tried announcing an NFL game. It was a challenging broadcast for him. After this, he focused on his other broadcasting roles. He left the UFC in December 2016 after UFC 207.

After the UFC

After leaving the UFC, Mike Goldberg joined Bellator MMA. His first event with Bellator was on June 24, 2017, at Madison Square Garden. He worked with Bellator until April 2021.

Mike Goldberg is famous for his catchphrase, "It is all over!" He often said this when a fight ended quickly by knockout or submission.

Mike Goldberg's Family Life

Mike Goldberg is married to Kim Goldberg. They have two children. Their daughter, Kiarra Goldberg, is an actress. They also have a son named Kole Goldberg.
