Michael Kenneth Green (born August 6, 1951) is a former professional basketball player from the United States. He played as a center and power forward. Mike Green played in both the American Basketball Association (ABA) and the National Basketball Association (NBA). His professional career lasted from 1973 to 1980. He was even chosen as an All-Star in 1975.

Playing Basketball in College
Mike Green grew up in McComb, Mississippi, and went to Higgins High School. He was a tall player, standing 6 feet 10 inches. After high school, he played college basketball for Louisiana Tech University. His coach there was Scotty Robertson.
Green was an amazing player for the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. He is still their all-time leader in points and rebounds.
- As a freshman (first year) in 1969–1970, he scored about 17.5 points and grabbed 13.1 rebounds per game. This is called a double-double.
- In his second year, he improved to 18.9 points and 16.6 rebounds per game.
- As a junior, he averaged 24.0 points and 15.9 rebounds.
In his senior year (1972–1973), Green had an incredible season. He averaged 30.9 points and 15.7 rebounds for Louisiana Tech. He was named the Southland Conference Player of the Year. That year, his team finished with a great record of 20 wins and 6 losses.
During his entire college career at Louisiana Tech, Mike Green played 102 games. He averaged 22.9 points and 15.4 rebounds per game. From 1970 to 1973, he scored a total of 2,340 points.
Playing in the ABA and NBA
In the 1973 NBA draft, the Seattle SuperSonics picked Mike Green as the 4th player overall. However, he decided to sign with the Denver Rockets instead. The Denver Rockets were part of the American Basketball Association (ABA).
Green played three seasons in the ABA, from 1973 to 1976. He played for the Denver Rockets / Nuggets from 1973 to 1975. Then he played for the Virginia Squires from 1975 to 1976. In the ABA, he averaged 15.1 points and 8.7 rebounds per game. He was also named to the ABA All-Rookie team in 1974. In 1975, he was chosen to play in the 1975 ABA All-Star Game.
From 1976 to 1980, Mike Green played in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played for the Seattle SuperSonics (1976–1977), the San Antonio Spurs (1977–1979), and the Kansas City Kings (1979–1980). In his NBA career, he averaged 8.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game.
Overall, in his professional career in both the ABA and NBA, Mike Green played 459 games. He averaged 11.5 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1.6 blocks, and 1.3 assists per game.
Life After Basketball
Mike Green lives in Denver. After his basketball career, he worked as a car salesman. He later had a health issue that required surgery. Since then, he has used a wheelchair.
