Michael Hugh Saunderson Morris (born June 26, 1946 – died October 22, 2012) was a well-known British TV presenter and journalist. He was most famous for being a main anchor on the popular breakfast show Good Morning Britain on TV-am.

Early Life and Education
Mike Morris was born in Harrow, London. He went to St Paul's School in London. Later, he studied at Manchester University. There, he earned a degree in American and English Literature.
Journalism Career Begins
Morris started his career as a journalist in 1969. He worked for a local newspaper called the Surrey Comet. After that, he moved to Sydney, Australia. In Australia, he worked for a news agency called AAP Reuters. He was an editor for their news bulletins.
In 1974, he changed to sports journalism. He joined United Newspapers as a reporter. Later, he became their sports editor.
Moving to Television
In 1979, Mike Morris started working in television. He joined Thames News, a regional news program in London. He worked as a sub-editor and reporter.
Four years later, in 1983, he joined the new TV station TV-am. He was part of the team that launched the station. At first, he was a sports reporter. Then, he became the presenter for the Saturday edition of Good Morning Britain.
In 1987, he became a main weekday anchor. He presented the show with other famous presenters. These included Anne Diamond and Lorraine Kelly. While at TV-am, he did a very important interview. He was the first person to interview Nelson Mandela live on British television. This happened shortly after Mandela was released from prison.
Morris stayed with TV-am until the end of 1992. The station lost its license to broadcast. He later joined GMTV in April 1993. He presented their Sunday magazine show called Sunday Best. He also presented on a cable channel called Wire TV.
Return to Regional News
In 1996, Mike Morris went back to regional television. He became a main anchor for Calendar. This was the main news program for Yorkshire Television. He presented alongside Christa Ackroyd and Christine Talbot. He left Yorkshire Television in March 2002.
Personal Life and Passing
Mike Morris passed away on October 22, 2012. He was 66 years old. He died from heart failure after battling cancer. He is survived by his two daughters and four grandchildren.
