Michael Tomlak's Hockey Journey

Getting Started in Hockey

Michael Tomlak began his journey in hockey at a young age. In 1983, when he was 18, he was chosen by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 1983 NHL Entry Draft. The NHL Entry Draft is an event where professional hockey teams pick young players from around the world to join their teams. Michael was the 208th player picked that year.

Before playing in the NHL, Michael played for the Cornwall Royals in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). This is a major junior hockey league in Canada where many young players develop their skills. He also played college hockey at the University of Western Ontario.

Playing in the NHL

Michael Tomlak played for the Hartford Whalers in the NHL. He played in 141 games during his time in the league. In these games, he scored 15 goals and made 22 assists. An "assist" is when a player helps a teammate score a goal. When you add goals and assists together, you get a player's "points." Michael earned a total of 37 points in the NHL.

He played for teams like the Springfield Indians in the American Hockey League (AHL) and the Milwaukee Admirals in the International Hockey League (IHL).
