Mikhail Mikhajlovich Derzhavin (born June 15, 1936, in Moscow – died January 10, 2018, in Moscow) was a famous actor from both the Soviet Union and Russia. He was well-known for his roles in movies, TV shows, and on stage.

About Mikhail Derzhavin
Mikhail Derzhavin grew up in a family of actors. His father, also named Mikhail Derzhavin, was a leading actor at the Vakhtangov Theatre. His mother was Iraida Derzhavina.
Their home was on Vakhtangov Street in Moscow. Many actors, artists, and musicians lived there. Right next door was the Shchukin Theater School.
Childhood and Early Acting
As a child, Mikhail loved playing theater games. He and his friends would put on plays. They wrote their own scripts and acted out stories. Sometimes, famous actors from the Vakhtangov Theatre would visit his family.
When he was five, Mikhail learned a long speech from a play. He recited it for injured people in a hospital. This showed his early talent for acting.
Becoming an Actor
In 1954, Mikhail began studying at the Shchukin Theater School. This is where he learned to be a professional actor. After finishing school, he started working in theaters.
He worked at the Lenkom Theatre starting in 1959. Later, in 1965, he moved to the Theater on Malaya Bronnaya. From 1968, he was a main actor at the Moscow Theater of Satire.

Mikhail Derzhavin was a close friend and acting partner of Aleksandr Shirvindt. They worked together on many projects since 1957.
