Milabena is a small country area in Tasmania, Australia. It's found in the North West region. This area is managed by two local councils: Waratah-Wynyard and Circular Head. Milabena is about 26 kilometers west of the town of Wynyard.

People first settled here in the late 1800s. For a long time, Milabena was important for cutting down trees (forestry). It was also a place for farming, especially growing potatoes and raising dairy cows. In 2016, a count showed that 89 people lived in Milabena.

History of Milabena

Milabena was not always called by its current name. It was first known as Tuckers Hill. The name Milabena started being used around 1921. It became the official name in 1966.

Milabena even had its own post office for a while. The Milabena Post Office opened on June 1, 1920. However, it closed down just 14 years later, in 1934.

Exploring Milabena's Geography

The western edge of Milabena is marked by a long line of hills called the Dip Range. This range forms a natural border for the area.

One of the cool natural features in Milabena is the Detention Falls. This is a beautiful waterfall where water cascades down rocks. It's located on the Detention River, right within Milabena.
