Where Did the Name Come From?
Miles Lake gets its name from the Miles Glacier. The glacier itself was named a long time ago, in 1885. A person named Lt. Allen gave it this name.
He named it after a famous military leader, Major General Nelson A. Miles. General Miles lived from 1839 to 1925. He was an important figure in American history.
