Miles Sandys (died 1601) facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Miles Sandys (born around 1520 – died October 22, 1601) was an important English official and politician. He was a member of the English Parliament for many years, from 1563 to 1597. What's interesting is that he never represented the same area twice! This means he served different towns and regions during his time in Parliament.

Miles Sandys was the brother of Edwin Sandys, who became the Archbishop of York. Both brothers studied at St John's College, Cambridge. Miles later joined the Middle Temple, which was a place where lawyers were trained. He became a senior member there and even served as its Treasurer for several years.

Miles Sandys was a powerful government official. He worked in the Court of Queen's Bench, which was a very important court. He also became the Clerk of the Crown. This role involved keeping important government records and preparing documents for the monarch. As a Member of Parliament (MP), he represented many different places, including Taunton, Lancaster, Bridport, Buckinghamshire, Abingdon, Plymouth, Andover, and Stockbridge.

He passed away on October 22, 1601, in Latimer, Buckinghamshire.
