Miles Thompson (born December 8, 1990) is a professional lacrosse player from the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) people. He is part of the Hawk Clan of the Onondaga Nation. Miles played college lacrosse at the University at Albany. Today, he plays for the Georgia Swarm in the National Lacrosse League and Chaos Lacrosse Club in the Premier Lacrosse League. In 2014, he won the Tewaaraton Trophy, a top award in college lacrosse, along with his brother Lyle.

During his college years, Miles, his brother Lyle, and their cousin Ty Thompson were known as the "Thompson Trio." They broke many college lacrosse records. This group is remembered as one of the best attack lines in the sport's history.

Miles grew up on the Onondaga Nation reservation. His mother, Doloris, is Onondaga. His father, Jerome Thompson, is Mohawk from Akwesasne. Miles was one of five children in his family. His brothers are Jeremy, Lyle, and Jerome Jr. (Hiana). Miles went to LaFayette High School near Syracuse, New York. He was a star player in their lacrosse program.

College Lacrosse Career

Miles attended the University at Albany, SUNY. He played lacrosse there with his brother Lyle and cousin Ty Thompson. The three Thompsons played attack, a key offensive position. In 2013, they scored an amazing 259 points together.

In 2014, Miles and Lyle made history. They were the first Native American players to win the Tewaaraton Trophy. The word tewaaraton comes from the Mohawk language. It is the Mohawk term for the old game that became modern lacrosse. Miles finished his college career with 293 total points. He also set an NCAA Record by scoring a goal in every game he played.

Professional Lacrosse Journey

Miles Thompson has played in several professional lacrosse leagues. He has often played alongside his talented brothers.

Major League Lacrosse (MLL)

In 2014, Miles Thompson was drafted into the Major League Lacrosse (MLL). He was picked 20th overall by the Rochester Rattlers. Later, he was traded to the Florida Launch. He played for them in their first season. In 2015, his brother Lyle was also drafted by the Launch. Miles and Lyle played their first game together against the Ohio Machine.

National Lacrosse League (NLL)

Miles was also drafted into the National Lacrosse League (NLL) in 2014. The Minnesota Swarm picked him third overall. After his first season, the Swarm team moved to Georgia. They became the Georgia Swarm. Miles' younger brother Lyle was drafted by the Swarm the next year. His older brother Jerome also joined the Swarm in 2016.

Premier Lacrosse League (PLL)

Miles Thompson joined the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) in 2019. This was the PLL's first season. He was chosen to play for the Chaos Lacrosse Club.

International Lacrosse Competitions

Miles Thompson has proudly represented the Iroquois men's national lacrosse team in international games.

World Lacrosse Championship

In the 2014 World Lacrosse Championship, Miles helped the Iroquois Nationals finish third. This was their best-ever result in international field lacrosse. He again led the Iroquois to a 3rd place finish at the 2018 World Lacrosse Championship.

World Indoor Lacrosse Championship

Miles also played for the Iroquois national indoor lacrosse team. This was at the 2015 World Indoor Lacrosse Championship. The Iroquois team won the silver medal. They lost to Canada in the final game on September 27, 2015.
