A Glimpse into Millport's Past
Millport was officially established and mapped out in 1837. It was an important place because it had a busy mill that helped process goods. The community also served as a shipping port on the historic Ohio and Erie Canal. This canal was like an old highway made of water, allowing boats to transport goods and people across the state. Being a port meant Millport was a hub for trade and travel in its early days.
