Millville is a small place in Woodford County, Kentucky, United States. It's called an "unincorporated community" because it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Instead, it's managed by the county. Millville is about 5 miles (8 km) southeast of Frankfort, Kentucky. A stream called Glenns Creek flows through the area, and it's also close to the Kentucky River.
Discovering Millville
Millville got its name because there were many mills in the area. These were mostly flour mills and grist mills. They used water power from the nearby creeks and rivers to grind grain.
A Look at Millville's Past
A post office was opened in Millville in 1854. This meant people could send and receive mail right in their community. Samuel Miles was the very first postmaster, helping to run the post office. However, the post office eventually closed down in 1907.
