The Story of Milton
Milton was officially created in 1824. The town got its name because there were many watermills in the area. These mills used water power to grind grain or saw wood.
The Milton post office opened its doors in 1825. It has been serving the community ever since. After some repairs from a fire, the post office is now open again. By 1826, just two years after it was founded, Milton already had almost 200 residents.
