Early Life and Service

Milton Bluehouse Sr. was born in Ganado, Arizona. When he was older, he joined the United States Army and served for three years. After his time in the military, he became involved in the government of the Navajo Nation.

Role in Navajo Government

Bluehouse Sr. was a member of the Navajo Tribal Council. This council helps make important decisions for the Navajo people. He also served as the Vice President, working alongside President Thomas Atcitty.

Becoming President

Milton Bluehouse Sr. became president after President Atcitty left office. There was a rule that said someone appointed as Vice President might not be able to become president.
