Mindaugas Timinskas's College Basketball Journey
Mindaugas Timinskas was born in Šilutė, which was part of the Lithuanian Soviet Socialist Republic at the time. He moved to the United States to play college basketball. From 1993 to 1997, he played for Iona College. This was in NCAA Division I, which is the highest level of college sports in the U.S.
Mindaugas Timinskas's Professional Basketball Career
After finishing college, Timinskas went back to Lithuania. He started his professional basketball career in the 1997–98 season. His first team was Šilutė, the team from his hometown. They played in the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL).
One of his most memorable times was playing for the Spanish team TAU Cerámica. This was during the EuroLeague 2000–01 Finals. In these finals, he scored a lot of points in three different games. He scored 18 points in Game 4, which helped his team force a fifth and final game. People still remember a powerful dunk he made in that game. It's considered one of the best highlights in the modern EuroLeague history.
Mindaugas Timinskas as a Coach
After his playing career, Timinskas became a basketball coach. He was named the head coach for the varsity basketball team at Cary Academy. He coached this team from the 2012–13 season until the 2015–16 season.
