Miner Lake is a beautiful mountain lake found in Blaine County, Idaho. It sits high up in the Smoky Mountains. This area is part of the amazing Sawtooth National Recreation Area, which is managed by the Sawtooth National Forest.
Miner Lake is special because it is an alpine lake. This means it is located at a very high elevation, almost 8,800 feet (about 2,678 meters) above sea level! It is also a glacial lake. This type of lake was formed thousands of years ago by huge sheets of ice called glaciers. As glaciers moved, they carved out hollows in the land. When the ice melted, these hollows filled with water, creating lakes like Miner Lake.

Miner Lake is a hidden gem in the Idaho wilderness. It is about 1,280 feet (390 meters) long and 790 feet (241 meters) wide. The lake's water eventually flows into Miner Creek. This creek then joins Prairie Creek, which finally empties into the Big Wood River.
How to Reach the Lake
Getting to Miner Lake is an adventure! The easiest way to reach it is by following Trail 135. This trail starts at the end of Forest Road 179. It is a great spot for people who love hiking and exploring nature.
Nearby Mountains
Miner Lake is surrounded by impressive mountain peaks. It is located just west of a tall mountain called Norton Peak. To the north of the lake, you can find Prairie Creek Peak. These peaks add to the stunning scenery around Miner Lake.
