How Mini Kalzone Started
Mini Kalzone began its journey in 1993 in a city called Florianópolis, located in Santa Catarina, Brazil. The people who started it first tried selling pizza slices. However, that idea didn't work out as well as they hoped. There was another successful shop nearby selling pastries, so they needed a new plan.
The Birth of the Calzone Idea
The founders decided to try something different: selling calzones! At first, they made these calzones in a very small space. On their very first day, they sold seven calzones. This was a small start, but it showed promise! In the months that followed, more and more people wanted their calzones. The small space quickly became too small for all the production. Because of this, they moved to a bigger restaurant later in 1993.
Growing the Business
In 1994, the company officially created the name "Mini Kalzone" for their brand. From then on, their special calzones were known as Mini Kalzones. The business started to grow quickly, becoming a chain of restaurants. By January 2000, they had opened seven locations just in the state of Santa Catarina.
Expanding Across Brazil
Mini Kalzone didn't stop there! In June 2000, the company opened its first locations in another Brazilian state called Ceará. They built a special center to make their products and opened two shops in the city of Fortaleza. By the end of that year, they had opened three more shops in Ceará. This helped them become well-known in that new market.
Becoming a Franchise
Starting in June 2001, Mini Kalzone began to offer franchises. This means that other people could open their own Mini Kalzone restaurants, following the company's rules and using their recipes. This helped make sure that all Mini Kalzone restaurants had the same great products and ways of working. Today, Mini Kalzone has more than 110 restaurants! You can find them in many different cities all over Brazil.
