Minor Hall (born March 2, 1897, died October 16, 1959) was a famous American jazz drummer. Many people knew him as Ram Hall. He was a big part of the New Orleans jazz music scene. Minor was also the younger brother of another well-known drummer, Tubby Hall.

Minor Hall was a talented musician who played drums in many jazz bands. He was known for his steady rhythm and his important role in the sound of New Orleans jazz.
Early Life and Music
Minor Hall was born in Sellers, Louisiana, in 1897. He went to New Orleans University to study until 1914. After his studies, he started playing music professionally. Around the middle of the 1910s, he joined Kid Ory's band. Kid Ory was a very famous jazz trombonist and bandleader.
Minor played drums in different music groups in New Orleans. One of these groups was called the Superior Band. In 1918, he decided to move to Chicago, a big city known for its jazz music.
Playing Jazz Across the Country
When Minor Hall arrived in Chicago, he briefly joined Lawrence Duhe's band. He even took his brother Tubby's place for a short time. Soon after, he served in the U.S. Army during World War I.
After the war, Minor Hall returned to music. In 1921, he rejoined the band that used to be Lawrence Duhe's. By then, a legendary musician named King Oliver was leading the band. Minor also played with Jimmie Noone in 1926. Later, he moved to California. There, he played for a long time with Mutt Carey's band, the Jeffersonians, from 1927 to 1932.
Later Career and Retirement
In the 1930s, Minor Hall played with the Winslow Allen Band. He took a break from music for some years during this decade. He also served in the Army again for a short time in 1942.
In 1945, Minor Hall reunited with Kid Ory and his Creole Jazz Band. He became one of the longest-serving members of Ory's group. He stayed with Kid Ory's band until 1956. At that time, he decided to retire from music because of his health.
Minor Hall never led his own band for recordings. However, he recorded many songs with Kid Ory's band. He also recorded some music with the legendary Louis Armstrong in the 1940s. Minor Hall passed away in Sawtelle, California, in 1959, at the age of 61.
