Early Life and Education
Mireia Lalaguna was born in Barcelona, a beautiful city in Spain. This happened on November 21, 1992. She studied at the University of Barcelona. There, she earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in pharmacy. This means she learned a lot about medicines and how they work.
Mireia is also very good with languages. She can speak four different languages fluently. These include Catalan, Spanish, French, and English.
Career in Pageants
Mireia Lalaguna started her journey in beauty pageants in 2014. Her first big competition was Miss Atlántico Internacional 2014. She represented Spain in this contest. Mireia did very well and was declared the winner. Lorena Romaso, who was the previous winner, crowned her.
Miss World Spain Competition
Mireia Lalaguna then competed in the Miss World Spain contest in 2015. This was the third time this event was held. It took place on October 24, 2015, in Málaga, Spain. Mireia represented her home city, Barcelona, in the competition.
At the end of the event, Mireia was crowned Miss World Spain 2015. The previous winner, Lourdes Rodríguez, from Castilla-La Mancha, placed the crown on her head. Mireia also won a special award called "Miss Luxury" during the event.
Winning Miss World 2015
After winning in Spain, Mireia Lalaguna went on to represent her country at the Miss World 2015 pageant. This huge international competition happened on December 19, 2015. It was held in Sanya, China.
Mireia made it to the top five finalists. During this part of the competition, she was asked an important question. She had to explain why she thought she should win Miss World 2015. Here is what she said:
I think I should be the next Miss World because I believe in strong women. Also, I always try to give my best. I believe in Beauty with a Purpose and I can continue its legacy. I want to show the world how to love and share, give the best of ourselves and show everyone how to find happiness in helping each other.
By the end of the exciting event, Mireia Lalaguna was crowned Miss World 2015. The outgoing titleholder, Rolene Strauss from South Africa, placed the crown on her. Mireia's victory was a very special moment for Spain. It was the first time Spain had won the Miss World competition since it first started in 1951.
