Miriam Díaz Aroca was born in Madrid, Spain, on March 4, 1962. She grew up in Santander, a city in Cantabria. She went to Complutense University in Madrid to study Journalism. Her first job was at a radio station called Radio Minuto Fórmula, where she worked as a radio host and a control technician.
Early Career in Television
Miriam first appeared on TV in 1979 as a contestant on a music show called Aplauso. She later started her professional TV career with Javier Basilio on the show El bote de Don Basilio. This show was part of a bigger program called Por la mañana (1987–1988).
After that, she hosted a children's TV show called Cajón desastre from 1988 to 1991. She also co-hosted the popular game show Un, dos, tres... responda otra vez with Jordi Estadella from 1991 to 1993. In 1990, she even sang on an album with 11 songs called Chicos. One of the popular songs from the album was Merlin.
Acting in Movies
Miriam Díaz Aroca also became known for her acting. The famous director Pedro Almodóvar chose her for a small role in his 1991 film High Heels. In this movie, she played a radio host for people who are deaf.
Her biggest acting success came with the role of Clara in the movie Belle Époque (1992). This film, directed by Fernando Trueba, even won an Academy Award.
Family Life
Miriam has two children. Her son, Pedro Luis Llorente Jr., was born in 1994. Her daughter, María Washington, was born in 2004.

Miriam continued to act in many TV comedies. She was in La casa de los líos (1996-1999) on Antena 3. She also appeared in ¡Ala... Dina! (2001-2002) on TVE. From 2004 to 2006, she played Claudia Valladares in Mis adorables vecinos on Antena 3. In 2006, she took part in the TV dance competition ¡Mira quién baila!. She also had a main role in the comedy series ¡A ver si llego! in 2009.
Besides TV and movies, Miriam has also performed in theater plays. In 2007, she was in Lysistrata at the Festival of Classical Theatre of Mérida. She played the villain Cruella de Vil in the theater version of 101 Dalmatians. In 2009, she starred with María Barranco in the play .... She also performed in 100 metros cuadrados in 2011.
