Miriama Jennet Kamo, born on October 19, 1973, is a well-known New Zealand journalist, children's author, and television presenter. She currently hosts the Māori current affairs show Marae on TVNZ. She also presented the popular current affairs program Sunday for many years until it finished in 2024.

Early Life and Education
Miriama was born in Christchurch, New Zealand, in 1973. She went to New Brighton Catholic Primary School and then Aranui High School. Later, she studied at the University of Canterbury, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English in 1995.
Her Journey in Television
Miriama Kamo started her TV career early. In her first year of studying at CPIT, she got her first job on a children's science show called Get Real. She worked as a reporter and presenter, helping kids learn about science.
After that, she moved to Wellington. There, she reported for an arts and issues show called backch@t. For a short time, she even lived in Sydney, Australia, and worked at an art gallery.
In 2001, Miriama returned to New Zealand. The next year, in 2002, she joined Television New Zealand (TVNZ). She became a reporter for the current affairs program Sunday. She also sometimes filled in as a presenter for news shows like 1News and Breakfast.
From 2005 to 2011, Miriama hosted another current affairs show called 20/20. She was also a weekend news anchor for TVNZ 7 from 2008 to 2012. In 2010, she helped present the live news coverage after the big 2010 Canterbury earthquake. From 2015 to 2016, she hosted Kiwi Living, a lifestyle show on TVNZ.
Since 2011, Miriama Kamo has been the main host of TVNZ's current affairs shows. These include Sunday and the Māori current affairs program Marae. She also hosts an online show about technology called Sunday Innovate.
Author and Writer
Besides her TV work, Miriama Kamo also writes for different magazines and newspapers. In 2018, she published her first children's book. It's called The Stolen Stars of Matariki and was published by Scholastic.
Awards and Achievements
Miriama Kamo has won several awards for her excellent work.
- In 2005, she won the Best Current Affairs Reporter award at the Qantas Television Awards. This was for her investigation into problems at Porirua Hospital in the 1960s and 70s. The judges praised her ability to connect with people and tell emotional stories. Miriama has said that this story was very important to her, both as a journalist and as a person.
- In 2019, her children's book, The Stolen Stars of Matariki, was a finalist for the Te Kura Pounamu Award. This award is part of the New Zealand Post Book Awards for Children & Young Adults, and it celebrates books written entirely in te reo Māori.
- Miriama also won the Best Reporter - Maori Affairs award at the 2019 Voyager Media Awards. This was for her reporting on Marae and Sunday.
Personal Life
Miriama Kamo is married to Michael Dreaver, who is a consultant and helps with Treaty of Waitangi negotiations. They got married in 2015 and have one daughter, who was born in 2011. Miriama is proud of her Māori heritage and is connected to the Ngāi Tahu and Ngāti Mutunga iwi (tribes).
