Mirjam Jaeger (pronounced YAY-ger) is a former Swiss freestyle skier. She was born on November 9, 1982, in Zürich, Switzerland. After her skiing career, Mirjam started working as a model and a sports broadcaster.

Mirjam's Early Life and Sports Beginnings

Mirjam Jaeger grew up in Zurich, Switzerland, surrounded by the beautiful Alps. This is where she learned to ski at a very young age. Even though she loved skiing, she also discovered snowboarding as a kid. Snowboarding quickly became her new favorite sport.

When she was 16, Mirjam started competing in regional halfpipe contests. A halfpipe is a U-shaped structure made of snow, where athletes perform amazing jumps and tricks. She found her first sponsors, which helped her compete. Mirjam even took part in a Halfpipe World Cup and some Europa Cups in snowboarding. She managed to balance her studies with her passion for both skiing and snowboarding. In 2004, she decided to focus only on freeskiing.

Mirjam's Exciting Skiing Competitions

Mirjam Jaeger made her first World Cup appearance in skiing halfpipe in 2004. This competition was in Les Contamines, France, and she finished in 6th place. Over the years, she achieved great success in World Cups.

Between 2006 and 2013, Mirjam stood on the podium three times in World Cup events. She earned two 2nd place finishes in Les Contamines, France, in 2006 and 2008. She also got a 3rd place in Cardrona, New Zealand, in 2013. Her best overall rankings in the Halfpipe World Cup were 2nd place in the 2005/2006 season, 5th in 2012/2013, and 4th in 2013/2014.

Mirjam also won two other important silver medals. One was from the Winter X Games XII in Aspen, Colorado, in 2008. The other was from the Winter Dew Tour in Breckenridge, Colorado, in 2011. These events are very famous in action sports.

Olympic Debut and World Championship Success

Halfpipe skiing became an Olympic sport for the first time at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Mirjam Jaeger was there! She made it to the final round and finished in an impressive eighth place.

In January 2015, Mirjam achieved another big success. After facing injuries in previous World Championships, she won a Bronze Medal. This was at the FIS Freestyle Ski and Snowboarding World Championships in Kreischberg. The next month, she competed in the "Russian Freestyle Games." She took 5th place in slopestyle and won the halfpipe competition. Slopestyle is another freestyle skiing event where athletes perform tricks on a course with various obstacles.

Mirjam Jaeger officially retired from competitive skiing on March 24, 2015.

Mirjam's Media Appearances

Mirjam has been part of some special moments beyond competitions. During the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games in Sochi, she was the first athlete shown by the cameras in the parade of athletes. This was a memorable moment for her.

Television and Broadcasting Career

In the summer of 2014, Mirjam appeared on a TV show called "Stable Wars Del Mar" (season 2). She was a contestant on a team with Nanci Dahl and Karen Headley. The show started airing on Fox Sports San Diego in November 2014.

In June 2015, Mirjam started a new career as a sports broadcaster for Blick.ch. She hosted talk shows and covered sports events. She also broadcasted live for The Olympic Channel. This included the elections for the Olympic cities in 2024 and 2028 from Lima, Peru, in 2017. She also covered the election for the 2026 Olympic city from Lausanne, Switzerland, in 2019.

Mirjam is also one of the main people featured in an Olympic Channel documentary. It's called "Running in North Korea" and was filmed in 2019.

Mirjam's Personal Life

Mirjam Jaeger is a mother of two children. She was engaged to Rafael Beutl, a model and a TV personality from Switzerland. They announced their separation in January 2022.
