Misha Green's Career

Misha Green has worked on many popular TV shows. Early in her career, she was a writer for Heroes and Sons of Anarchy. She also worked as a producer for the show Helix.

Underground TV Series

In 2016, Misha Green teamed up with Joe Pokaski. They created Underground. This show is a historical drama about the Underground Railroad. The Underground Railroad was a secret network that helped enslaved people escape to freedom. The story takes place in the Antebellum South and nearby free states.

The first season of Underground started on WGN America in March 2016. Many critics really liked the show. Because it was so popular, the network decided to make a second season. That season premiered in March 2017.

Lovecraft Country TV Series

In 2020, Green wrote a supernatural horror show called Lovecraft Country. Jordan Peele, who directed Get Out, helped produce this show. It was based on a book by Matt Ruff with the same name.

The series explores issues of race in the 1950s. It also uses ideas from the writer H. P. Lovecraft. The TV channel HBO ordered the show directly. Jurnee Smollett-Bell, who also starred in Underground, was one of the main actors. HBO announced in July 2021 that the series would not have a second season. Reports later suggested this was due to challenges with the show's work environment.

Future Projects

In January 2021, Misha Green was chosen by MGM. She was set to write and direct a new Tomb Raider movie. Green has said she has been a fan of the Tomb Raider games since they first came out on PlayStation. In May 2021, she shared that the first script, called Tomb Raider: Obsidian, was finished. However, in July 2022, MGM lost the film rights to Tomb Raider. This meant the sequel with Alicia Vikander would not happen.

Green wrote and produced the Netflix movie The Mother. She is also writing the upcoming Black Canary film for Warner Bros.. In January 2023, it was announced that she would direct her first film.
