Mishuk Munier (born Ashfaque Munier on September 24, 1959 – died August 13, 2011) was a talented journalist and media expert from Bangladesh. He was well-known for his amazing photography and for helping start a global news channel called The Real News Network. Mishuk was the son of Munier Chowdhury, a famous writer. He also worked as the main leader and editor for the TV channel ATN News. Sadly, he passed away in a car accident on August 13, 2011, along with filmmaker Tareque Masud. The government of Bangladesh honored him with the Ekushey Padak award in 2012 for his important work in journalism.

Mishuk Munier's Career Journey
Early Studies and Teaching
Mishuk Munier studied mass communication and journalism at Dhaka University. After finishing his studies, he started teaching there part-time in 1989. This was a great way for him to share his knowledge with new students.
Working with News Channels
At the same time, Mishuk began working as a freelance photographer for the BBC. This allowed him to gain experience in international news. In 1999, he became the director of news operations for Ekushey Television, a satellite TV channel. He played a very important role in how news was broadcast in Bangladesh.
International Work and Return
In 2002, Mishuk moved to Canada and worked for The Real News, a global news organization. He also contributed to many other well-known media groups like BBC, WTN, ARD1, Channel 4, CBC, and Discovery Health. In November 2010, he came back to Bangladesh to become the CEO of ATN News.
Mishuk Munier's Family Life
Mishuk Munier was the second son of Munier Chowdhury. His father was a very important person who sadly passed away on December 14 during the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War.
His Work in Films
Mishuk Munier was a talented cinematographer, which means he was in charge of the cameras and lighting for films. He worked on many movies with filmmaker Tareque Masud. He was the main cinematographer for Tareque Masud's film Runway. He was also working on a new film called Kagojer Phool when he passed away.
Mishuk often worked in difficult places, like areas with conflicts, natural disasters, or big political changes. He was the director of photography for Return to Kandahar (2003) and also the cinematographer for Words of Freedom (1999).
Tragic Passing of Mishuk Munier
Mishuk Munier and Tareque Masud died in a car accident on August 13, 2011. The accident happened in Ghior, Manikganj, and three other people, including a camera assistant named Wasif and the driver, also passed away. Their microbus crashed into another bus coming from the opposite direction. They were returning from finding locations for Tareque Masud's next movie, Kagojer Phool.
Mishuk Munier was also an important witness for the International War Crimes Tribunal in Bangladesh. He had helped collect documents and videos for the investigation agency. Mishuk and his uncle, Shamser Choudhury, were the only two people who saw his father, Munier Choudhury, being taken away on December 14, 1971. Mishuk was going to be a witness for the Tribunal, which was formed in March 2010.
