The Mistaouac River is a river in Quebec, Canada. It flows into the Wawagosic River. This river is located in the Nord-du-Québec region. It passes through areas like Estrades, Orvilliers, Puiseaux, and Brouillan.

The river usually freezes over from the end of November until the end of April. It is generally safe to travel on the ice from early December to mid-April.

- 22.1 kilometers south of where the Mistaouac River joins the Wawagosic River.

The Mistaouac River flows for about 36.9 kilometers. It runs entirely through a forest.
Here's how the river flows:
- It starts by flowing 1.4 kilometers southwest in the Orvilliers area.
- Then, it goes 4.0 kilometers southwest to Nekwackak Creek.
- Next, it turns northwest for 3.3 kilometers.
- It continues northwest for 13.1 kilometers in Orvilliers.
- After that, it flows 5.9 kilometers northwest through the Esker-Mistaouac biodiversity reserve.
- Finally, it travels 9.2 kilometers northwest into the Brouillan area, where it ends.
The end of the Mistaouac River is where it joins the Wawagosic River. This spot is known as the "Nekuwacka confluence" in the Algonquin language.

River's Name
The study of place names is called toponymy. The place where the Mistaouac River joins another river is called the Nekuwacka confluence in the Algonquin language.
The name "rivière Mistaouac" (Mistaouac River) became official on December 5, 1968. This happened when the Commission de toponymie du Québec was created.
