Mizuho Sakaguchi (阪口 夢穂, Sakaguchi Mizuho, born October 15, 1987) is a talented former Japanese football player. She was a midfielder, which means she played in the middle of the field. Mizuho last played for Omiya Ardija Ventus in the WE League. She also played for the Japan national team.

Mizuho's Club Career

Mizuho Sakaguchi was born in Sakai, Japan, on October 15, 1987. She started her professional football journey very young. In 2003, when she was just 15 years old, she joined Speranza FC Takatsuki. This was her first team in the L.League, Japan's top women's football league.

After finishing high school, Mizuho moved to Tasaki Perule FC in 2006. She quickly became a key player. In 2007, she was even chosen for the "Best Eleven" team. This award goes to the top players in the league. Sadly, her club had to close down in 2008 because of money problems.

In 2009, Mizuho decided to try playing football in the United States. She joined a team called FC Indiana in the USL W-League. After a year, she returned to Japan. In 2010, she joined Albirex Niigata. She was again named to the "Best Eleven" in 2011.

In 2012, Mizuho made another big move to Nippon TV Beleza. This is where she really shined! She won the "MVP" (Most Valuable Player) award three years in a row, from 2015 to 2017. She was also selected for the "Best Eleven" team for five years in a row, from 2013 to 2017. She played many games for her clubs, scoring 75 goals in 236 league appearances.

Playing for Japan: The National Team

Mizuho Sakaguchi first joined the Japan national team in July 2006. Her first game was on July 19, where she scored two goals against Vietnam. This was during the 2006 Asian Cup.

She was a very important player for Japan in major tournaments. Mizuho helped Japan win the 2011 World Cup. She even scored one of the penalty kicks in the final game against the United States! She also played in the 2015 World Cup, where Japan finished second.

Mizuho also won a silver medal with the Japanese team at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. In June 2016, she was given the special number 10 jersey for Japan. This number is often given to the team's most creative and important attacking player. She played a total of 124 games for Japan and scored 29 goals.
