Teams in the Tournament
Eight teams played in the 2014 AFC Women's Asian Cup. Some teams got to play automatically, while others had to win special qualification games.
Teams Who Qualified Automatically
These four teams were the best from the last tournament. So, they did not have to play extra games to get into this one:
Note: The team from North Korea was not allowed to play. This was because of a rule violation that happened in a different tournament in 2011.
Teams Who Won Qualification Games
These four teams won their special qualification groups to earn a spot in the tournament:
Group Stage Matches
In the group stage, the eight teams were split into two groups: Group A and Group B. Each team played against every other team in their group once. Teams earned points for winning or drawing a game.
- A win gave 3 points.
- A draw (tie) gave 1 point.
- A loss gave 0 points.
The top two teams from each group moved on to the semi-finals. They also earned a spot in the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup. The third-place teams played one more game to decide who would get the last spot in the World Cup.
