Mobile Suit Gundam AGE (機動戦士ガンダムAGE, Kidō Senshi Gandamu Eiji) is an exciting Japanese science fiction anime TV show. It's part of the very popular Gundam series from Sunrise. This show first came out in 2011. Akihiro Hino, who leads the game company Level-5, helped create the story.
The story of Gundam AGE takes place in the future. Earth is fighting a huge war against an enemy from space. This war lasts for a whole century! The show follows three main characters from the same family. Each of them pilots a special giant robot called a mecha, known as a "Gundam." They fight to protect Earth and its space colonies from a very advanced enemy.
Gundam AGE first aired in Japan on October 9, 2011. It had 49 episodes and finished on September 23, 2012. There's also a special movie version called Mobile Suit Gundam AGE: Memory of Eden. It came out on July 26, 2013, and focuses on the second main character, Asemu Asuno.
Contents
Story of Gundam AGE
The story of Gundam AGE is split into four main parts. The first three parts focus on a different hero from the same family. The last part, called the "Three Generations" arc, brings all three heroes together.
Flit Asuno's Journey (Year 115 A.G.)
The war begins in the year 101 A.G. (Advanced Generation calendar). A mysterious group called the "UE" (Unknown Enemy) attacks a space colony. This terrible event is known as "The Day the Angel Fell." It starts a "One Hundred Years War."
The story truly begins in year 108 A.G. The UE attacks another colony where Flit Asuno lives with his mother. Flit's mother is badly hurt. Before she dies, she gives Flit a special item called the "AGE Device." This device holds the plans for a powerful ancient weapon: the "Gundam."
Flit spends years studying and building the Gundam AGE-1 from these plans. Seven years later, in year 115 A.G., the Gundam AGE-1 is ready. Just then, the UE attacks Flit's colony! Flit uses the Gundam to help people escape. He joins the battleship "Diva" to fight the UE. He wants to stop them from destroying more homes.
Later, Flit and his allies learn a big secret. The UE are actually humans! They are descendants of a failed mission to colonize Mars. They were left behind by the Earth Federation and formed their own nation called "Vagan."
Asemu Asuno's Fight (Years 140-142 A.G.)
Twenty-five years pass, but the war against the Vagan continues. Flit is now a commander and has a family. He chooses his son, Asemu, to be the next Gundam pilot. On his 17th birthday, Asemu gets the AGE Device. He successfully defends his colony with the Gundam AGE-1.
Asemu then joins the military, just like his father. He pilots the Gundam AGE-2, which is the next version of the Gundam. Under Flit's command, Asemu and the Diva crew stop many Vagan attacks. Flit also uncovers a big secret: some corrupt leaders are helping the Vagans! This changes a lot of things in the Earth government.
Ten years later, Asemu has a son named Kio. Asemu goes on a final mission and disappears. But his AGE Device is found and given to Kio.
Kio Asuno and Three Generations (Year 164 A.G.)
The Vagans launch a surprise attack on Earth. To fight back, Flit activates the newest Gundam, the Gundam AGE-3. He gives it to Kio. Kio joins the Diva crew, just like his father and grandfather.
In space, Flit and Kio meet space pirates called Bisidian. They are shocked to find that Asemu is alive! He's working with the pirates, piloting a changed Gundam AGE-2 Dark Hound.
Asemu tells them about the EXA-DB. This is an old military database with important war information. Whoever gets it would have a huge advantage. But Kio is captured by the Vagans, and his Gundam is taken. Kio is rescued by Asemu and the pirates, but his Gundam AGE-3 is almost destroyed. Kio returns to Earth and pilots the ultimate Gundam, the Gundam AGE-FX.
For the first time, Flit, Asemu, and Kio fight together. They lead the Earth forces and the pirates to take back a moon base from the Vagans. Asemu destroys the EXA-DB so no one can use it. The Earth Federation and the Vagans then have one final battle in Earth's orbit.
The battle ends when the Vagan colony, "Second Moon," is about to be destroyed. Kio convinces Flit to stop fighting and work with the Vagan soldiers to save the colony. After the war, both sides use their science to make Mars a place where people can live. Flit is remembered as a hero who brought all of humanity together for a better future.
