Modibo Keita was born in 1942 in a place called Koulikoro. At that time, it was part of French Sudan. Today, it is part of Mali. He was related to important people in Mali's history. One relative was President Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta. He was also a descendant of the Keita princes. These princes were rulers of the ancient Empire of Mali. Becoming Prime Minister
In 2002, Modibo Keita became Prime Minister for the first time. He was chosen by President Alpha Oumar Konaré. This first term lasted less than three months. He was the last Prime Minister appointed by President Konaré.
