Moerbeke is a town in the Belgian province of East Flanders. People sometimes call it Moerbeke-Waas to tell it apart from another place named Moerbeke near Geraardsbergen.

The town of Moerbeke itself is part of this area. It also includes a piece of the village called Koewacht, which is partly in the Netherlands and partly in Belgium. In 2021, about 6,619 people lived in Moerbeke. The total area of the town is about 37.80 square kilometers.

Moerbeke was once very famous for its sugar refinery, a factory where sugar is made.

It is believed that William of Moerbeke came from this town. He was an important person in the late 1200s. As a bishop, he translated many works by the ancient Greek thinker Aristotle into Latin. Some of these books had been found again from Arab sources.

Moerbeke has a special political situation. Since 1847, a political group called the liberal party has been the main power in the town. The current mayor of Moerbeke is Robby De Caluwé.
