Mogote is a special area called a district in Costa Rica. It's located in the Guanacaste province and is part of the Bagaces canton. Mogote is known for its beautiful natural areas and its important role in producing food and energy for the country.

Mogote was officially created on November 26, 1971. It became its own district after a special government decision, which is called a "Decreto Ejecutivo." Before this, it was part of the Bagaces area.
