The village of Moha is in the middle part of Fejér county, just north of Székesfehérvár. The Agnes-spring is at the northern end of a long ditch, about 2 to 4 kilometers long. This ditch sits between the Bakony and Vértes mountains. This whole area is known for having a lot of water underground and many springs, some hidden and some well-known.

History of Mohai Agnes

The first time this spring was written about was in 1374. People used to call it "Aldokut," which means "Blessing Well." Today, we know it as the Agnes-spring.

The first scientific test of the water happened in 1810. Later, in 1835 in Leipzig and in 1876 in Stuttgart, more was written about Mohai Agnes. In 1880, the Hungarian Academy of Sciences helped to learn even more about this special water.

What's in the Water?

Scientists found that the main things in Mohai Agnes water are calcium carbonate, magnesium, sodium, potassium, lithium, iron oxide, calcium sulfate, silicic acid, and titanic acid. The titanic acid is very rare and special! It's only found in a few other places, like in some mineral water from Norway.

People believe Mohai Agnes water can help with breathing problems and digestion issues. The water is naturally 11.2°C and has natural carbon dioxide bubbles. People have known about its benefits since the 14th century. This mineral water has many different minerals, all in a natural form. This makes it stand out from other mineral waters in Hungary.

Becoming Popular

Thanks to the hard work of people like Amade Tadde, the Bajzáth family, and Imre Kempelen, the spring was explored, and bottling began. This made Mohai Agnes mineral water famous across Hungary and even in Europe. The water started being sold in the 1800s and became more and more popular until World War I.

Modern Times

After 1989, when big political changes happened in Hungary, a company called Elore Mezogazdasagi Termelo es Szolgaltato Szovetkezet started bottling Mohai Agnes. In 1999, Karsai Holding Plc. bought most of the company. Then, in August 2000, Mohai Agnes Ltd. was started by Karsai.

In 2005, Mohai Agnes was sold to Uniresal Food Ltd. You could then find the mineral water in CBA stores. After some big improvements and updates, the company unfortunately faced problems in 2008.
