Mahammed Boun Abdallah Dionne (born 22 September 1959 – died 5 April 2024) was an important politician from Senegal, a country in West Africa. He served as the Prime Minister of Senegal from 2014 to 2019. He was the third prime minister chosen by President Macky Sall. Before becoming prime minister, Dionne worked at a major bank in West Africa, for the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and as an advisor to the president. He was also trained as a computer engineer.

Early Life and Education
Mahammed Dionne was born on 22 September 1959, in a town called Gossas in Senegal. His father worked as a police commissioner. Dionne studied to become a computer engineer, which means he learned how to design and build computer systems. He also specialized in applied economics, which is about using economic ideas to solve real-world problems.
Political Journey
Dionne had a long and active career in politics and public service. He held several important roles in the government of Senegal.
Working with President Sall
Dionne worked closely with Macky Sall for many years. From 2005 to 2007, he was the Director of the Cabinet for Prime Minister Macky Sall. This means he was a chief assistant, helping to manage the Prime Minister's office. When Sall became the President of the National Assembly (a type of parliament) in 2007, Dionne continued to work with him in the same important role until 2008.
Leading the Emerging Senegal Plan
Just before he became prime minister, Dionne served as a minister from March to July 2014. His job was to help put into action the "Emerging Senegal Plan" (PSE). This was a big plan to help Senegal grow its economy and improve life for its people by the year 2035.
Becoming Prime Minister
On 6 July 2014, President Macky Sall chose Mahammed Dionne to be the Prime Minister of Senegal. As Prime Minister, he was in charge of the government's day-to-day operations and helped the president carry out his plans for the country.

In July 2017, Dionne led the national list of candidates for the Benno Bokk Yaakaar party. This party supported President Sall in the parliamentary election. After the party won the election, President Sall reappointed Dionne as Prime Minister on 6 September 2017. He continued in this role until May 2019, when the position of Prime Minister was temporarily removed from the government.
