Mohammad Barakeh (Arabic: محمد بركة, Hebrew: מוחמד ברכה; born 29 July 1955) is an Israeli Arab politician. This means he is an Arab citizen of Israel who works in government. He used to lead a political party called Hadash. He was a member of the Knesset, which is like Israel's parliament, from 1999 to 2015. Today, he leads the High Follow-Up Committee for Arab Citizens of Israel, which works to support Arab citizens in Israel.

Early Life and Education
Mohammad Barakeh was born in a town called Shefa-'Amr in Israel. He went to Tel Aviv University where he studied mathematics. During his time at university, he made many friends and connections with Jewish students. These friendships were important and continued for many years. He also started to get involved in politics during this time.
Starting His Political Journey
After finishing his studies, Mohammad Barakeh went back to his hometown. He became active in local politics there. In 1999, he was first elected to the Knesset. This was a big step in his career. He was re-elected in 2003. After that, he became the Deputy Speaker of the Knesset, which is an important leadership role in the parliament.
Important Political Actions
In 2005, Mohammad Barakeh supported a plan by then-Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. This plan was about Israel moving its settlements out of the Gaza Strip and parts of the West Bank. Barakeh's support helped this plan move forward.
He was re-elected to the Knesset again in 2006 and 2009.
Visiting Historical Sites
In 2010, Mohammad Barakeh joined a group of Israeli politicians on a trip. They visited concentration camps from World War II. These camps were places where terrible things happened to many people. Some politicians did not want him to go, but he did.
After visiting, Barakeh shared how shocked he was. He saw piles of children's shoes at the museum. He said it was hard to understand how such awful things could happen to innocent children. He felt it was a human disaster.
Later Years in Politics
Mohammad Barakeh was elected for a fifth time in 2013. Before the 2015 elections, he decided to retire from being a member of the Knesset. He was given a special symbolic spot on the Joint List, which is a group of Arab parties working together.
