Mohammad Khaledur Rahman Tito was a politician from Bangladesh. He was born on March 1, 1945, and passed away on January 10, 2021.
He served as a member of the Bangladeshi Parliament, which is called the Jatiya Sangsad. He was a Member of Parliament twice. First, he was part of the Jatiya Party from 1986 to 1988. Later, he joined the Bangladesh Awami League and was a Member of Parliament from 2009 to 2013. He represented the Jessore-3 area.
Early Life and Education
Mohammad Khaledur Rahman Tito was born in Kolkata, which was part of British India at the time. He completed his early schooling in Dhaka, in what was then East Pakistan.
He finished his matriculation (high school) exams in 1960. He then passed his intermediate exams in 1963 from Quaid e Azam College. This college is now known as Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College. Later, he earned his degree from Michael Madhusudan College in Jessore in 1967.
Beginning in Politics
Tito became interested in politics while he was in college. In 1963, he joined a student political group called Chhatra Union at Michael Madhusudan College.
After college, in 1967, he started working with groups that supported workers' rights. These groups often had left-leaning political ideas.
Political Career
Tito's political journey began at the local level. In 1984, he was elected as the chairman of the Jessore municipality. This meant he was in charge of the local government for the city of Jessore.
Two years later, in 1986, he was elected as a member of the Jatiya Sangsad (Parliament). He won this election as a member of the Jatiya Party. The next year, he became an organizing secretary for the central Jatiya Party. This was an important role in the party's leadership.
In 1990, he was given a special job as the state minister for the Ministry of Labour and Man Power. This ministry deals with jobs and workers' issues. After the government led by Hussain Muhammad Ershad changed, Tito was held in jail for a period in 1991. Later that year, he became the acting secretary general of the Jatiya Party.
In 2006, Mohammad Khaledur Rahman Tito joined a new political party, the Bangladesh Awami League. On December 29, 2008, he was again elected to Parliament. He represented the Jessore-3 area as a candidate for the Bangladesh Awami League.
