Mokjong of Goryeo (born 5 July 980 – died 2 March 1009) was the seventh king of the Goryeo dynasty in Korea. He ruled from 997 to 1009.
King Mokjong's Rule
King Mokjong is remembered for making important changes to the Jeonsigwa system. This was a special way of giving out land to officials in the government. It helped to make sure land was shared fairly.
Challenges During His Reign
During his time as king, there were some difficult events. His mother, Queen Heonae, and a person named Kim Chi-yang were involved in a plan that caused trouble for the king.
Because of these events, King Mokjong was removed from his position by a general named Gang Jo. The king was then sent away from the capital city. Sadly, he passed away before he could reach his destination.
Mokjong's Burial Place
King Mokjong's tomb was known as Gongneung. However, today, no one knows exactly where his tomb is located.
