Where This Plant Lives
The Mojave monardella is a special plant because it grows only in California. You can find it in two main areas: the Mojave Desert and the southern Sierra Nevada mountains.
It likes to grow in places that are between 600 and 2,100 meters (about 2,000 to 7,000 feet) high. In the Antelope Valley, which is part of the Mojave Desert, it lives in dry, shrubby areas and in woodlands where Joshua trees grow. In the Sierra Nevada, it also grows in woodlands with pinyon pine trees.
