The mondo big-eyed tree frog (Nyctimystes gularis) is a special type of tree frog. It lives far away in Papua New Guinea. Scientists first saw this frog on tall mountains. These mountains are called Mount Dayman and Mount Tafa. The frogs live very high up, between 1500 and 2400 meters above sea level. That's like living on top of really tall buildings!
What Does the Mondo Big-Eyed Tree Frog Look Like?
This frog has a unique appearance. Male frogs are about 3.7 centimeters long. That's about the length of a paperclip. Female frogs are a bit bigger. They can be 4.2 to 5.6 centimeters long. This is about the size of a small matchbox.
Scientists who found these frogs said they were mostly plain in color. They had darker colors on their legs. This might help them blend in with their surroundings.
