Mondriel DeCarlos A. Fulcher (born October 15, 1976) is a former American football player. He played as a tight end for the Oakland Raiders in the National Football League (NFL). He played for three seasons with the Raiders. Mondriel was chosen by the Raiders in the 2000 NFL draft after playing college football at the University of Miami.
Mondriel Fulcher's Early Life and College Football
Mondriel DeCarlos A. Fulcher was born on October 15, 1976. His hometown is Coffeyville, Kansas. He went to Field Kindley High School in Coffeyville.
After high school, Fulcher played college football for the Miami Hurricanes. In 1995, he took a "redshirt" year. This means he practiced with the team but did not play in games. This allowed him to gain experience and keep an extra year of college eligibility. From 1996 to 1999, he was a four-year "letterman." This means he earned a special award for playing well in varsity sports. During his college career, he caught 46 passes for 545 yards and four touchdowns.
Mondriel Fulcher's NFL Career
The Oakland Raiders picked Mondriel Fulcher in the 2000 NFL Draft. He was the 227th player chosen overall. This happened in the seventh round of the draft. He officially joined the team on July 11, 2000.
Playing for the Raiders
In his first year, 2000, Fulcher played in ten games. He made five tackles. In 2001, he played in 13 games and started one. He made seven solo tackles and one assisted tackle. He also played in two playoff games that season. In those games, he had two solo tackles, one assisted tackle, and caused one fumble.
In 2002, Fulcher played in two games. He made one tackle. Later that season, on September 26, 2002, he was placed on "injured reserve." This means he could not play for the rest of the season because of an injury. The next year, on July 25, 2003, he was again placed on injured reserve. He spent the whole 2003 season recovering. He became a free agent in March 2004, which meant he could sign with any team.
