Monte Nido is a small, quiet community in California, United States. It's located in the western part of Los Angeles County. The name "Monte Nido" comes from Spanish and means "Mount Nest." This community is nestled in the beautiful Santa Monica Mountains, about 3 miles (5 km) north of Malibu. A fire station for the L.A. County Fire Department is in Monte Nido. It also helps monitor rainfall for the LADWP (Los Angeles Department of Water and Power).
A Look Back at Monte Nido
Monte Nido began as a special mountain resort in the 1920s and 1930s. People would visit for a getaway in the mountains. By 1972, about 150 families had made Monte Nido their home.
