How Streets Got Their Names
The main road in Montello is called View Road. It used to be named Old Mooreville Road. In 1924, its name was changed to avoid confusion with the new Mooreville Road.
Elizabeth Street also had its name changed in 1942. It was originally Edward Street. This change happened to prevent mix-ups with Edwardes Street in South Burnie. Mr. E. Tracey, whose father owned the land, suggested the new name.
