Montenotte is a lovely area in the northeast of Cork City, Ireland. In the early to mid-1800s, it was home to many wealthy business people.

The area got its name from a famous battle. This was the Battle of Montenotte, which happened in Northern Italy in the late 1700s. It was a key battle during the time of Napoleon.

Montenotte is divided into two parts for voting. These are called Montenotte A and Montenotte B. They are part of the Dáil constituency of Cork North-Central. This is a special area for electing members to the Irish parliament. In 2002, about 1,853 people lived in Montenotte A. About 2,723 people lived in Montenotte B.

Montenotte's Growth and Homes

Montenotte is on a hill. It looks out over the River Lee to the south. It is also very close to the St Luke's area.

Long ago, Montenotte had many large, grand houses. Some of these big homes were later changed. They became places like schools, offices, or hotels.

The part of Montenotte that faces the river has many old, tall trees. During the 1900s, some of the land was sold. New houses were built there. These modern homes are spread out among the trees. They have great views of the River Lee.
